How I Practice

My philosophical approach to medicine stems from holistic concepts, primarily that "Food is Medicine" and many medical illnesses arise from disconnection of natural-occurring phenomenon.  For patients suffering from prediabetes, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, polycystic ovarian syndrome, fatty liver, insulin resistance, or irritable bowel syndrome, I implement dietary therapies to reverse those conditions.

I also firmly believe in the holistic connection between emotions and physical wellness, primarily the “mind-body connection”. This is reflected in my holistic approach integrating both traditional allopathic medicine like Internal Medicine with other non-traditional modalities. An example of such a holistic approach would be treating refractory depression with a nutritional approach in addition to ketamine assisted psychotherapy.

Given my background as an M.D. who is board-certified, I understands the importance and necessity of guide-lined based therapies. However, I believe medicine, at its core, is an personalized process.  The best medicine is individualized medicine and this takes time, patience and most importantly, a human connection.  I am particularly interested in health optimization for individuals of all ages and demographics and I have a passion for solving medical conundrums.  Whether this involves optimizing your health prior to starting a family/conceiving or addressing a medical ailment that has been persistent and unsolved after seeing many providers, I am committed to meeting your healthcare needs in many ways.

I was born in Los Angeles, CA to Kashmiri-Pandit immigrant parents. My Kashmiri-Pandit lineage includes a long line of healers. For example, my great grand-father was one of the first anesthesiologists in Kashmir! My early formative years were tumultuous, moving back and forth between the United States and India. I experienced many challenging situations, including but not limited to being exposed to the impacts of genocide as a result of the Exodus of Kashmiri Hindus. Early in my schooling, I was flagged by my teachers as being gifted and I was eligible to join MENSA by the second grade. I graduated from Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton, CA and went on to receive my undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California where I received a full-tuition Trustee scholarship and then graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Biology and a minor in Spanish. I was part of the "Keck Bac/MD" Program, a now-since discontinued prestigious medical education program that accepted medical students directly from high school. I received my medical degree from the University of Southern California, and finished my residency in Internal Medicine at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, CA. I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Obesity Medicine. I also received certification from the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) to perform MDMA-Assisted Therapy and was involved as a psychedelic facilitator at University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) as part of the psilocybin for depression trials and psilocybin for anxiety and depression in Parkinson’s disease.

I can help people get in touch with themselves. I'm also a board-certified medical doctor who has been trained by the traditional allopathic scientific system, however I believe in the mind-body connection. I am really passionate about helping people experience joy, bringing smiles to people's faces and also making them laugh. I look forward to working with you.
